Roulette Rules

Whether you play in a brick and mortar casino or online, it is important to know your roulette rules before you play. Roulette is a very basic wagering game in which players choose numbers. A number is then randomly selected by the process of setting a ball moving around a spinning wheel; when the ball lands, a winning number is chosen and players who picked that number as part of their wagers are paid, based on the odds of their original bets.

There are several kinds of bets you can make in roulette. They include:

Straight Bet
In a straight bet, the player wagers on a single number from 1 to 36. If the number is a winner, the player is paid an amount equal to 35 times the original bet.

Split Bet
In a split bet, the player bets on two adjacent numbers at a time. To make a split bet, place a chip on the line between those two numbers. Winners are paid 17 times the original bet.

Street bet
A street bet is when a player wagers on three numbers in a vertical row. To make a street bet, place a chip on the line at the bottom of the row. The payout for a winning number is 11 to 1.

Corner bet
A corner bet allows a player to wager on four adjacent numbers at the same time. Place a corner bet on the corner in the middle of the four numbers and if one of them is a winner, you will be paid 8 to 1.

Line Bet
A line bet allows you to wager on six numbers by betting on the outside of the line that divides two rows of numbers. Payout for a line bet is 5 to 1.

Column bet
When you place a bet on a column of 12 numbers that are in a column along the table, you have a chance of earning a 2 to 1 payout.

Red / Black or Even / Odd Bet
Players can wager that the number will be either even or odd or red or black. Odds are slightly below 50% because zero and double zero are not red, black, odd or even. Winners get even money.
